Conner/Brooks Family Reunion Weekend

An annual event for my dad's side of the family is a summer picnic at a local park, held this year in June at Deer Park in Newport News, Virginia and organized by my Uncle Bubby. The participants are members of my dad's mother's family, the Brooks. The most active and represented branch of the family are my dad, his brother, his two sisters, and their children and grandchildren--the Conners. If I have counted correctly, there were 36 from the Conner branch there this year. There were about 4 from the Brooks side.

One activity this year was an egg hunt for the children. Some of us adults were instructed to take the kids for a walk while the eggs were hidden.

We took a few photos as we waited to be called back. I think we can see everyone's face between the two. The really tall one on the right is confused--she's not really one of the kids.

After the picnic, most of us with younger kids gathered at Bubby and Joyce's pool for some cooling off and relaxing. Here Nick shows his amazing basketball skills against 11/12yo girls. He needs some sun on his torso, doesn't he?

To be fair, he did later face off with my cousins, who gave him more of a run for his money.

The youngest really took to Nick. Maybe because she had him at her beck and call.......

...and because she gave him a kiss!

We tried to get some shots of all of the kids, but I'm not sure there's one great one of all of them. They took turns hiding their faces and jumping in and out of the pictures.

All of the extra get-togethers this year made it much more enjoyable for us out-of-towners. Let's do it again next year!
